The Urbandale J-Hawks wrapped up their final conference competition of the 2025 season at the CIML Conference Meet on Thursday, May 8, finishing 9th overall against a highly competitive field of Central Iowa teams.
They competed very hard and had some outstanding performances beginning with our conference champion in the shot put, Tatum Johnson with a throw of 40'3" to capture the title. Also, Fiona Mulligan 12.63 finished 4th and Madie Reed 12.79 with a 7th place finished in the top ten in the 100 meter dash. Madi Reed also finished 5th 17'0"in the long jump. Maddy Stutler finished just outside the top ten in the discus, finishing 11th with a throw of 110' 08". Mia German (10th) had a top 10 finish in the 200 meter dash, running the race in 27.0.
The distance crew had some great performances as well. Lilan Gyrue finished 16th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:38.06. As did Ella Grnistead 12:21.28 and Ella Schaller 12:49.73 in the 3000 meter run. The 800 meter sprint medley relay of Ela Tabakovic, Precious Karyee, Sarah Webster and Mia German placed 7th running a season's best of 1:54.66. The 4 x 100m relay of Ela Tabakovic, Precious Karyee, Marlie Schneider and Fiona Mulligan finished (5th) and ran a season's best 49.07 and 4 x 200m relay of the same quartet finished 6th in a time of 1:46.36. the 4 x 400m relay of Madi Reed, Mia German, Sarah Webster and Marlie Schneider capped off the night by finishing 7th and ran a season's best 4:15.81. The shuttle hurdle team of Mariah Dixon, Madelyn Schott, Layla McConnell and Sarah Cole finished in 7th running a time of 1:12..63.
This marks the conclusion of conference competition for Urbandale, but the season is far from over. The J-Hawks will return to the track on Thursday, May 15, at Waukee Northwest High School for the State Qualifying Meet — aiming to send several athletes to Drake Stadium later this month.
