The postseason awards keep rolling in for the J-Hawk softball team as they had THREE athletes named to the IGCA All-State Softball teams on Wednesday, July 31st. Tatum Johnson headlined the selections as she was named First Team All-State by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. Joining Tatum were Seniors Bri Tigges, who made the 2nd Team, and Bella Oberbroeckling, who made the 3rd Team.
Johnson had a breakout Sophomore campaign for the J-Hawks as the everyday catcher. She batted .471, set the single season record for home runs in a season with 11, and drove in 46 runs. She hit a massive home run in the third place game at state to clinch the record! It will be hard to fill the voids that Bri Tigges and Bella Oberbroeckling leave next season as they both contributed valuably to the lineup for numerous seasons. Bri hit .419, 7 home runs, and drove in 38 runs. She also set the career mark for home runs with 23 over her 5 seasons on the varsity squad. Bella had a breakout campaign as the everyday first basewoman. She batted .384, hit 3 home runs, and drove in 37 runs.
This was a memorable season for the J-Hawks and these honors are a testament to the talent and success of this team!
