J-Hawks Drop Regular Season Finale to Jaguars

J-Hawks Drop Regular Season Finale to Jaguars

The #11 Urbandale J-Hawks (20-16, 4-10) were on the road to take on the #6 Ankeny Centennial Jaguars (26-9, 11-3). This is the regular season finale for the Urbandale J-Hawks in the 2024 season before they start regional play on Saturday.

In game one, Bella Oberbroeckling hit her 3rd home run of the season that put the J-Hawks ahead 3-2 in the 5th. The Jags countered with a run in the 6th to tie it up. It looked like extras were in store for both teams, but the Jaguars walked it off with a squeeze bunt in the bottom of the 7th off of starter Morgan Barry to secure the win. The final was 3-4 for a J-Hawk loss.

In game two, the J-Hawk offense was led by Ella Schott who blasted her 1st career home run over the right field fence and also an RBI double in extra innings. Then, Tatum Johnson added her team leading 9th home run for 3 more insurance runs. The game had to be decided in extras, not unfamiliar to these J-Hawks as they have had numerous extra inning games this year. The Jaguars hit a walk off home run to win game 2 by a score of 10-8.

The J-Hawks compete in Region 5 on Saturday, July 13th, when they take on the Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson Yellow Jackets at Gary Page Field at 7pm. Tickets MUST be purchased through Varsity Bound at this LINK
