#2 Team in the State Comes to Town, J-Hawks Fall Short

#2 Team in the State Comes to Town, J-Hawks Fall Short

The #12 Urbandale J-Hawks (16-12, 3-7) were back at Gary Page Field for a CIML conference matchup versus the #2 Waukee NW Wolves (21-4, 9-3). It was a beautiful evening for softball as the heat and humidity finally departed for the time being!

In game 1, the J-Hawks saw one of the best pitchers and players in the state in Sophia Schlader as she was the starting pitcher. Urbandale was able to put together good at bats and pieced 10 hits on the board. They trailed most of the game, until the 6th when they scored 5 runs to take a surprising lead into the 7th. However, Waukee NW was able to score in the top half and secure a 5-8 win.

In game 2, senior Jaidan Abel was the Urbandale starter. The Wolves jumped out early and often in this one as the J-Hawks offense couldn't keep pace. The final was 1-10.

The J-Hawks will be back on the road on Friday, June 28th for the DCG Mustang Invitational in Dallas Center, Iowa. The team is 16-14 on the season.
