Tigges, Oberbroeckling Power J-Hawks to Split With Tigers

Tigges, Oberbroeckling Power J-Hawks to Split With Tigers

The Urbandale J-Hawk (12-9, 3-3) softball team is rolling into the week on a high note after they went 4-for-4 in the Jack North Invite at Waukee NW. They faced great competition from the east side of the state and played good, team softball! Tonight, the J-Hawks are back at Gary Page Field to take on the ADM Tigers (16-7) for a non-conference matchup. Originally, the J-Hawks were scheduled to play Council Bluffs, Thomas Jefferson, but that fell through early in the spring.

In game one, Bri Tigges hit her 5th home run of the season in the bottom of the first to give the J-Hawks a 3-run cushion. Jaidan Abel and Aubrey Schuman kept the Tigers at bay as they threatneed numerous times, but couldn't get enough together to take the lead. The final was 4-3 for the Urbandale win.

In game two, Morgan Barry pitched out of a lot of jams early to leave the Tigers stranded on the bases. Alexa Richmond singled up the middle to score Bella Oberbroeckling in the third to give the J-Hawks the lead. The J-Hawks and Tigers went back and forth, but ultimately it was the Tigers who came out on top. The final was 3-5.

With the split, the J-Hawks move to 13-10. They will face Perry tomorrow night, June 18, for a single varsity game at 5:00pm.
